WHAT YOU WILL SEE & EXPERIENCE

The Gokyo Ri Trek offers an incredible variety of landscapes and experiences. Beginning with the famous flight into Lukla, the route follows the Dudh Koshi Valley through traditional Sherpa settlements, colourful monasteries, and beautiful mountain forests.

As you gain altitude, the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic. Snow-capped peaks dominate the skyline while the vast Ngozumpa Glacier, the largest glacier in Nepal, stretches across the landscape. The famous Gokyo Lakes are among the trek's most memorable highlights, their striking turquoise waters creating one of the most iconic scenes in the Himalayas.

The ascent of Gokyo Ri provides one of the finest mountain panoramas in the world. From the summit, trekkers are rewarded with sweeping views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu, along with countless other Himalayan peaks and glaciers stretching to the horizon.

Combined with authentic cultural encounters, welcoming teahouses, and spectacular mountain scenery, the Gokyo Ri Trek delivers an unforgettable Himalayan experience.

One of the defining highlights of this trek is the spectacular Gokyo Lakes, a series of six turquoise glacial lakes situated between 4,700m and 5,000m within Sagarmatha National Park. Recognised as the highest freshwater lake system in the world, these lakes are considered sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists and hold great cultural and spiritual significance.

The trek follows the Dudh Koshi River to its source, leading through traditional Sherpa villages before reaching the beautiful settlement of Gokyo, located beside the largest of the lakes. From here, the ascent of Gokyo Ri (5,357m) rewards trekkers with one of the finest viewpoints in the Himalayas, offering breathtaking panoramas of Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and the vast Ngozumpa Glacier below.

Many trekkers consider the Gokyo Lakes Trek to be a quieter and more scenic alternative to Everest Base Camp, combining world-class mountain views with fewer crowds and a true sense of Himalayan wilderness.
