WHAT YOU WILL SEE & EXPERIENCE

Northern Norway offers some of the most spectacular winter scenery anywhere in the world. Vast snow-covered landscapes, frozen lakes, Arctic forests, and dramatic mountain ranges create an unforgettable setting for adventure and exploration.

One of the highlights of the trip is experiencing the region by dog sled. Travelling through pristine wilderness behind a team of huskies is both exhilarating and deeply connected to the traditions of Arctic travel. Snowshoeing adventures allow you to explore remote landscapes inaccessible by vehicle, while guided wilderness experiences provide insight into life in the far north.

During the long Arctic nights, you'll have the opportunity to search for the Aurora Borealis. Seeing the Northern Lights dance across the sky is one of nature's most extraordinary spectacles and a bucket-list experience for travellers from around the world.

Beyond the activities themselves, you'll experience the unique atmosphere of the Arctic - quiet forests, crisp winter air, stunning sunrises and sunsets, and a sense of remoteness that is increasingly rare in today's world.

ACTIVITIES

Fjords & Arctic Landscapes

Northern Norway is home to some of the most dramatic scenery in the world, where mountains rise from icy waters and snow-covered landscapes stretch as far as the eye can see.

Throughout the journey you'll experience breathtaking fjords, frozen lakes, Arctic wilderness, and countless opportunities to capture the incredible beauty of Norway in winter.

Whale Watching

Witness one of the Arctic’s most unforgettable wildlife encounters as whales migrate through the waters of Northern Norway.

During the winter months, the fjords around Tromsø become feeding grounds for incredible marine life, including humpback whales, orcas, sperm whales, minke whales, and occasionally fin whales. Surrounded by snow-covered mountains and Arctic scenery, a whale watching safari offers the chance to see these magnificent creatures in their natural environment.

The peak whale watching season typically runs from November to January, when migrating whales follow the movement of herring through Norway’s coastal waters. Sightings may also be possible outside of these months depending on conditions and whale movements.

Northern Lights Experience

Witnessing the Northern Lights is one of the most magical experiences the Arctic has to offer. During the winter months, Northern Norway becomes one of the best places in the world to see the Aurora Borealis, with long dark nights providing the perfect conditions for this incredible natural display.

The Northern Lights are created when charged particles from the sun interact with the Earth’s magnetic field, producing waves of colour that dance across the night sky. Shades of green are the most common, but under the right conditions you may also see hints of purple, pink, and red illuminating the Arctic landscape.

Our Northern Lights experience takes you away from the lights of Tromsø and into the surrounding wilderness in search of the clearest skies. Before heading out, expert guides carefully monitor weather conditions, cloud movement, and aurora activity to choose the best possible viewing location each evening.

Once we find the perfect spot, we settle in and enjoy the Arctic night - gathering around the campfire with hot drinks, a warm meal, and cameras ready as we wait for the Aurora to appear.

While the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and can never be guaranteed, the adventure of chasing them beneath the Arctic sky is an unforgettable experience in itself.

Dog Sledding

Experience one of the Arctic's most iconic forms of travel as you journey through Norway's frozen wilderness behind a team of energetic huskies.

Guided by expert mushers, you'll learn how to work with your dog team before heading out across snow-covered forests, open landscapes, and remote Arctic trails. The connection between rider, dogs, and nature makes this one of the most memorable experiences of the journey.

Snowmobiling

The area of the Lyngen Alps offers some of the most beautiful scenery in Northern Norway and is the perfect location for a snowmobile safari.

The whole area is a huge wilderness playground where we follow some approved and well-established trails.

As with all our trips, safety is paramount. You travel in pairs on the snowmobile and can change seats halfway. The snowmobile tour lasts from 60 to 90 minutes and focuses on sightseeing, playing in the snow, taking photos, and enjoying the fascinating surroundings of mountains, forests, and fjords.
