WHAT YOU WILL SEE & EXPERIENCE
Mount Kenya offers some of the most diverse and beautiful mountain scenery in Africa. As you ascend the mountain, the landscapes transform dramatically through several ecological zones.
The lower slopes are covered in forest rich with wildlife including buffalo, monkeys, antelope, and numerous bird species. Higher up, the landscape changes into moorland filled with giant lobelias and groundsels, creating an almost prehistoric atmosphere unique to East African mountains.
The upper mountain reveals spectacular glacial valleys, alpine lakes, rocky peaks, glaciers, and dramatic ridgelines. Sunrise from Point Lenana (4,985m), the highest trekking summit on Mount Kenya, is one of the highlights of the trek, with sweeping views across the surrounding landscape and, on clear days, all the way towards Mount Kilimanjaro.
Many trekkers consider the combination of alpine lakes, dramatic valleys, unique vegetation, and rugged mountain scenery to be among the most beautiful in East Africa. Unlike many trekking destinations, Mount Kenya combines high-altitude mountain landscapes with remarkable biodiversity, making every day of the trek visually different and incredibly rewarding.
