WHAT YOU WILL SEE & EXPERIENCE

Climbing in Bolivia combines breathtaking Andean scenery with true high-altitude mountaineering. Expeditions often begin in La Paz before travelling into the Cordillera Real, where snow-capped peaks rise dramatically above remote valleys and alpine lakes.

Depending on the climb, routes may involve glacier travel, crampon work, ice axe techniques, and summit ascents in a true alpine environment. Bolivia is particularly well known for peaks such as Huayna Potosí, which offers climbers the opportunity to experience a genuine high-altitude summit while remaining relatively accessible for those with good fitness and preparation.

Beyond the climbing itself, the landscapes are spectacular - vast mountain ranges, traditional villages, colourful local culture, and stunning sunrise views from high camps all combine to make the experience unforgettable.

ACCLIMATISATION & PREPARATION

High altitude is a major factor on all Bolivia climbing expeditions. Most itineraries are carefully designed to allow gradual acclimatisation before summit attempts, helping climbers adjust safely to the elevation.

Previous hiking or mountaineering experience is beneficial on more technical peaks, and climbers should arrive with a good level of fitness. Depending on the expedition, technical equipment such as crampons, harnesses, helmets, and ice axes may be required.
